John 6:16-21 (NKJV)
16 Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them. 18 Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing. 19 So when they had rowed about [a]three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid. 20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

Mark 4:38-40 (NKJV) 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?
Are we a Royal Priest hood, and descendants of Abraham?

I have the understanding that we are both, a royal Priest hood and we are descendants of Abraham by faith. Many of us don´t think that we are a royal priest… and we do not think of ourselves as a descendant of the Abraham, who is described in the Bible as the Father of the nation of Israel.

However, the Bible makes it clear that God told Abraham that many would be blessed through him, many nations… That is, where the salvation in Jesus Christ comes in, to bring all of us together as one.
Can you imagine boasting something like this: ‘Well, my great-grandfather was Abraham and he was God’s friend you know? God reminds Jacob that he is a descendant of Abraham, God’s Friend. Let’s read this in Isaiah 41:8 "But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend.
God reminds us in the New Testament that we are descendants of Abraham as well.
Galatians 3:6-9 “6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.”

Hebrews 4:14-16 (NIV) “Jesus the Great High Priest’
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”
The Lord Jesus commanded: Go ye therefore and make disciples.

Jesus gave us the command; "Go ye therefore and make disciples". It is our responsibility to make the decision whether or not I want to and will accept to do it and obey His command.
John 20:21 (NKJV) 21 "So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Mathew 28:18-20 (NKJV) "18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen."

Jesus Christ is the Lord of lords and King of kings, and disciples are His workers here on earth.

As it is written in the title of this chapter of discipleship the human ministry has been given to the disciples; that is, all those that have decided to give their life to Jesus and follow Him. But, the leadership always will belong to the LORD of lords and KING of kings = JESUS CHRIST. Today we will dig into this subject in more specific ways.

The Great Commission Mathew 28:

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go [c]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen."

As the Lord Jesus said to His disciples: "Go, make disciples of all nations", He commissioned them. At this point the Lord Jesus was making it clear that His human ministry of Jesus here on earth had come to an end. He gave them the command to proceed with the work that He had begun. Jesus transferred at this point the responsibility of maintaining the legacy exactly the way He had structured it.

John 20:21 (NKJV) “So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

John 17:18 (NKJV) “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”

In John 20:19-23 The Apostles Commissioned

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were [e]assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

In these verses, John describes as Jesus commissioned them. Jesus taught them during three years the principles, the laws, the values of doing the mission as His Father had taught Him. In John chapter 17, we see this very well described how Jesus prays for them and those that would believe through them. The disciples were named apostles by the Lord, and He ordained them to take on the work of discipleship that gave birth to the Church.

Then Jesus instructs the disciples to remain in Jerusalem as we read in Luke24 and in Acts 1:

"Stay therefore in Jerusalem, till ye be clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49).

The Holy Spirit Promised

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be [c]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

It was a simple command, and the Lord made it clear that they needed to follow His instructions. They needed the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, since the Spirit is the agent that accomplishes all and any work. The strongest feature of the book of Acts of the Apostles (where Jesus' prophecy was fulfilled is the fact that the Holy Spirit was sent upon them to work through them. God is in control, it is His work through us and not our work.

With this commanded ‘go ye therefore’ Jesus made it clear that His earthly ministry was fulfilled, and now He was sending His disciples to continue this work. If we analyze the book of Acts itself, we will conclude that it is a continuity of the Gospels; because from the moment that the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell in them, God chose to work through them from there on.

God is the authority, and the Bible gives us a very clear picture of the same. The Lord Jesus reigns in heaven and on earth according to Scriptures, and now He is working through the Body of Christ here on earth. Jesus intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father, according to Romans 8:33:34:

Romans 8:33-34 (NKJV) “33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

"And he shall reign forever in the house of Jacob, and his kingdom shall have no end" (Luke 1:33)

These verses make it clear that the Leadership always will be in God’s Hand, but we can learn that He gave His discipleships the work here on earth that He had started; and now Jesus Christ works through us the work that He began.

Homework = Scripture memory:

Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course.

Mathew 28:19-20 "19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen."

Personal goal: How do you want to make a difference in this world?? Who do you want to reflect? Let's be a disciple according to God's own heart.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">But the human ministry of Jesus is not only of miracles. The Lord Jesus, as a born leader, was also concerned with building the Body of Christ, which is the Church; with a solid Doctrine based on the Father’s Word (which should be a concern of every disciple). <span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">He practiced everything He taught. He left an example that never had been seen before. The teaching was basically simple, but very profound and many times too hard to achieve by many that heard Him. In its essence broke with all the superficiality present in the teachings of the scribes and the Pharisees, setting a pattern of eternal and immutable values that should guide the lives of all who desire to follow Him.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">

It is for this reason that every time the Pharisees tried to accuse Jesus according to Jewish traditions, Jesus was a step ahead demonstrating that all complexity of the Law was insufficient and superficial in regards of the ethical and moral standard of God’s Kingdom. These teachings were offered free of charge in common places like mountains and beaches; throughout the villages where He passed by. They were received through teachings, prophetic sermons, and parables.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">Returning now to the text of Matthew 28, after suffering the terrible vicarious death on the Cross, bringing redemption to mankind, Jesus was resurrected and reunited with his disciples, who in a few minutes would become the first Apostles of the Church. Jesus' concern now was to transfer the human ministry to his disciples; to transmit to them the last instructions before ascending to Heaven so they could begin their spiritual ministry.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">The "go and make disciples of all nations" puts an end to the human ministry of Jesus. It transfers to the new apostles the responsibility of maintaining the exact legacy that Jesus structured, based on the same principles, same laws, and the same values. The apostles take on the work of discipleship that gave birth to the Church; and the Lord Jesus, takes the lead. Jesus instructs the disciples to remain in Jerusalem:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">"Stay therefore in Jerusalem, until ye be clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49). This order was basically simple: They needed Baptism with the Holy Spirit, since it is the Spirit, the agent of all and any work. We can consider that the power of the Holy Spirit through the Church is the strongest feature of the book of Acts of the Apostles (where Jesus' prophecy was fulfilled).
<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">For this reason, I began the chapter affirming that the "go" is the link that connects the conclusion of the Gospels to apostolic acts, for if we analyze the book of Acts itself, we will conclude that it is a continuity of the Gospels in order to be connected to them through the "go".

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">The Holy Spirit is able to change lives. It is the power of the Spirit in the life of Jesus that authorized him to preach the Kingdom of God and to execute signs. The same power of the Spirit (Acts 2) transferred the same authority to the disciples. Therefore, Jesus is the greatest stereotype of a full life, filled with the Spirit and empowered by the Spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian directs his actions, his thoughts, his words and his choices; or at least they should drive. For this reason, leadership belongs to the Lord.
Now Than, Let Us Compare It With What The Bible Says.

It is summed up above these definitions by uniting those with Collins and Strong that Biblical Leadership is: "function and ability to lead; Spirit of leadership, form of government based on personal prestige and accepted by others; Go about, lead, protect, sustain, care, feed, impel, lead gently, advise, deliberate, solve, consult, determine, guide, propose, guide, carry, guide the house, drive, guide, show the way through teaching , To command with official authority, to have the government on "= equal to => discipleship.

Then a leader according to the dictionaries is the following: All these words bring in themselves the concept and the basis for someone who goes ahead showing the way, the way of proceeding or living. It is not possible to describe "discipleship" and / or "leadership" or "leader" in one word or even in one sentence. The theme is so rich and broad that we need to conceptualize it in a much more extensive way than dictionaries do.

So let's get the meaning of these dictionaries and compare them with what the Bible says. When I read about David's life, and the life of all the prophets in the Old Testament, and about the life of the apostles, I come to the conclusion that God implanted in their hearts the character traits of a person who is after the heart of God.
Leadership = sf (leader + ana) Leader role.
What is a principle? Search the dictionary, the definition of principle. Principles are standards that we follow.
Principle = sm (lat principiu) = 13 Standard of conduct. 14 Way of seeing; Opinion: Always faithful to its principles. Rules or code of (good) conduct by which someone rules your life and your actions. Fundamental doctrines or prevailing opinions: Political principles.
Defining Biblical Leadership. If we go back to the verses we stated in the beginning of this lesson we can see that God commanded Joshua exactly like this.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

You see God gave Moses and Joshua the Principle of the standard in their conduct. Guiding them on His own opinion. God taught His people always to be faithful to HIS principles. God gave His people rules of good conduct by which every leader instilled by God ruled over His people conducting their lives and actions. God gave kings the Fundamental doctrines and prevailing opinions:
God’s Political principles.

Observing leaders in the past we can point out in their lives that God has approved the characteristics we have outlined in summarizing what dictionaries say: "to go about, to lead, to protect, to sustain, to nurture, to feed, to impel, to lead kindly, to counsel, to deliberate , to resolve, to consult, to determine, to guide, to propose, to carry out, to direct, to show the way through teaching, to command with official authority, to have the government over.

And Jesus gave us the government over, for the fact that he said, "As the Father has sent me, I send you."

This is certainly the most exact description of a shepherd; the function of it. Leading people means driving, protecting, sustaining, caring, feeding, gently leading, and counseling. I know it is a lot to take in, in one lesson all that is taught here. But Jesus gave the authority here on earth to the church, His disciples.

John 20:21 says: “So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

Further in another lesson we will learn that the Leadership belongs to God, and the discipleship was given to us. Eventhough Jesus gave the authority to us, His disciples; the final word still belongs to God alone.
In this lesson I would like you to make the question… And next lesson we will talk about them.

Journal nº1: But I would like you to write about a journal what you have learned in this lesson. What difference does it make to look at it God’s way compared with your way?

Homework = Scripture memory:

Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course. Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Personal goal: How do you want to make a difference in this world?? Who do you want to reflect?
Concept of Leadership by Dictionaries.

This word disciple comes from Latin and actually describes exactly what a leader does. A leader goes ahead and teaches who follows him and the person who is discipling someone also goes ahead and shows what a person should do. This is exactly what Jesus did. Jesus fulfilled his mission and at the same time was teaching and training his disciples. We see the technical description by the Collins Dictionary of the English Language that defines "leadership" as: “You refer to people who are in control of a group or organization as the leadership. Someone's leadership is their position or state of being in control of a group of people.
"Certainly there are people in the Bible who are leaders, that is, capable of leading. All the leaders who were imposed by God discipled their followers according to the order given by Him. We find biblical principles that help us understand the biblical leadership that describes exactly how Jesus taught those who followed him. Many of the men whom God anointed as prophets and kings had a leading spirit. They had the ability to lead. David, Moses, Joshua, Joseph and many others had the form of government based on the personal prestige accepted primarily by God and also by His people.
The Strong’s Dictionary gives us some additional help to establish our biblical basis for leadership, as it defines leadership from the original biblical words. According to this dictionary, the word "guide" is used in the New Testament to replace the word "leader." Leading, therefore, is guiding; and this word (and its relative) appears, at least, in most versions of the Bible in English. Thus, when we study the Hebrew and Greek words translated as "guide" and their relative, we form our biblical basis on leaders and leadership. Jesus gave the leadership in His church hear on earth to His disciples. Jesus delegated them to do the work according to His command.
In Hebrew, therefore, we have the words:
• Darak, which means "to go on".
• Nahal, meaning "to lead, to protect, to sustain, to take care of, to feed, to impel, to lead kindly".
• Ya'ats - "advise, deliberate, resolve, consult, determine, guide, propose".
• Nachah - "guide, transport, place"

In Greek we find the words:
• Oikodespoteo - "to guide the house".
• Kateuthuno - "lead".
• Hodegeo - "guide, show the way through teaching".
• Hegeomai - "command with official authority, have government over".

Have you ever consulted the Dictionary to see how it is described: "disciple"?
Let's check:
disciple1 - dis.cí.pu.lo1 sm (lat discipulu)
1. One who receives instruction from someone; The one who learns; student.
2. Sectarian professing the doctrines taught or propagated by another.
3. Fond, devout: A disciple of the truth.
4. Beloved: St. John the Evangelist. Disciples of the Gospel: those who preached and propagated the evangelical doctrine. "

Leader, Representative type of a group. Head of a political party.
"If we take the time to compare these two descriptions are in fact basically synonymous. He who receives instruction from another, he who learns; student. Leader is a guide, he also teaches how to do everything, so he is leading to be able to make sure that the leaders follow according to his teaching.
It is not possible to conceptualize "discipleship" and / or "leadership" or "leader" in one word or even in one sentence. Joshua 1:8-9 (NKJV) “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Objectives: By the end of this section You should have a clear concept of what is discipleship according to Scripture.

Introduction: Wholehearted Discipleship According To Scriptures.
Does the Bible give us a clear concept about discipleship? Would you be able to quote some Bible text that clearly tells us how a disciple should work in God’s kingdom? How can I know if I am leading biblically a Bible class, Sunday school; or in any other department of the church? How should we do the street evangelism according to what the Scripture tells us? Based on the verses we quoted in the beginning of this lesson we know that God teaches us just the same way as He taught Moses, Joshua and all the other leaders in the Old and New Testament. Jesus always referred to Scriptures when HE taught His disciples.
I believe God says the same to you and to me as he said to Joshua. Scriptures shall not depart from our mouth, but we must meditate on it day and night, so that we can live according to it. God commands us to be strong and courageous as well. I think there is only one way that we can be strong and courageous as followers and disciples of Jesus; and that is following Him as He commanded us to do. Jesus gave us the command in Mathew 28:19-21 and also in Mark chapter 16. Mathew and Mark describe it to us how the Lord sent them, and Jesus is sending you and me as well. All who believe and receive Him as it says in John 1:12 are children of God and we are told to go and preach the good news in all the world. Do you know how many people were gathered there when Jesus said it? It were not only His disciples, there were

First of all let us take a look at the Biblical Concept of Discipleship. But we need to understand what the Dictionary tells us about the meaning of "Concept"; and after this, we will research in the Bible this conceptualization on wholehearted discipleship according to the heart of God.
Meaning of Concepcion Compose, idealize, develop and/or expose a concept about (something); to define. Assign judgment of value or note to: conceptualize the performance of employees. Develop and express an opinion or point of view about; Evaluate.
If I understood correctly, what the dictionary says, conceptualizing would be to form a concept: ‘it is the way of expressing and developing an opinion about something or someone.’ Moreover, to conceptualize is the form in which we evaluate the supposed situation, circumstance, or theory. It is our opinion on the subject.
Jesus expressed very clearly what His Father told Him to do and how to convey that message to us. Making disciples is for those who are already in Christ, and maturation as a follower of Christ begins on the first day of the Christian life, and it is a process of constant learning. So, on a daily bases we need to guard in our hearts what God told Joshua.
God made His opinion clear as He sent Moses, Joshua and all the other leaders, He instilled as leaders for His people. And He did the same for the Church that He started with the twelve apostles. We have some good points in the verses stated above and we will address them here.

Five specific things I want to point out on this passage.
a) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, = I believe the Lord gives us the same command, do not let Scriptures depart from your mouth; and we should not replace it with the modern teaching and ways of thinking as the world does.

b) But you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. = We are called to a personal devotional with our God and His word on a daily bases. It is about our devotion, that commitment in studying it. Learning how to make our daily decisions based on the same.

c) For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. = If a child of God obeys this command, I believe it will make it’s way prosperous; there is no doubt on it.

d) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, = Compare this with the New Testament teaching of the Lord, does He not teach us the same thing? Definitely. Eph. 6:10 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” 2 Cor. 12:9-10 “9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” = We all must take this thought line as our logo. “Be strong in Christ Jesus.”

e) For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. = This promise He also gave to His church. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5b.

Evangelism is fishing souls, calling others to follow Jesus. Once the person received Jesus as their Savior, they need to be trained in the Word of God, which is discipleship through felloship with other believers. We must all learn to be fisher of men from the first day on; but teaching them on the way requires knowledge of the Word of God. During these three years they were instructed to go and do the work in pairs; under the leadership of Jesus.

After receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, they were instituted by God as the leaders who would found the Church. We should apply the biblical principles of Christian leadership as exemplified and taught by Jesus, and train leaders as Jesus trained; that answers the question.

We must work under someone who already has knowledge in the Word of God; to teach us where and how we can do the work of God. But, it is biblical that we should always do this work under the leadership in the Church of Christ; remembering that we are all members of one body.

Some people claim that because the word "leadership" or "leader" does not appear in certain versions of the Bible or appears only in Old Testament. That there is not enough basis to teach about leadership or even to call someone else a "leader"; Or "Leaders according to the heart of God." The Word of God specifies how leadership should be. God teaches his leaders how to proceed before his people. Let's then look at how the dictionaries describe leadership so we can learn to apply it within the Church.

Let’s take a look at some examples of this in the Scriptures. In 1 Samuel 9:15 – 10:27, we find the beautiful story as God chooses Saul, and treats him with honor, being invited into the prophet's house for supper.

The prophet reserves for him the thigh, special part of the flesh, for him to eat, and then we read the beautiful story as he was anointed king. Saul was honored before the people and Samuel the prophet sealed all this in a book in verse 25: "And Samuel declared unto the people the right of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and set it before the Lord; Then Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house."

Saul was the only person to receive this kind of procession to his throne. Saul had everything to be an excellent king, we would say that he was very lucky to be imposed like this as a king. Saul didn’t need to make political campaign and to be voted in. But, something I personally observe, Saul had not been trained before by observing a king who acted in divine conformity; one that served God with all his heart. Saul, had never observed any king dignifying God in all his conduct, acting before God and his subjects correctly.

Saul had the anointing of God and was chosen by God; and we read it in 1 Sam. 10:11. “And it came to pass, as all that knew him before, that he saw that he prophesied with the prophets, that the people said every man to his companion, What is become of the son de Quis? Is Saul also among the prophets? "As also in 1 Sam. 19:24, it says that he was among the prophets.

David was also anointed king, and we also see this description in the Bible:
"So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah."- 1 Sam. 16: 12-13. (NKJV)

Although God used the prophet Samuel to anoint David, and the Spirit of God departed from Saul and seized David, even so; it still took a long time for David literally take the throne of Israel. The Word says that Saul still reigned for a long time, and only after Saul died, that David was anointed again by the people over Judah. But during the whole time that Saul still was king, which was all together 40 years; David already walked in the anointing of God. He was not literary In 2 Sam. 2: 1-4 we read how he was received by the men of Judah who anointed him king over the house of Judah. Years passed while David always stood under the command of God. He always sought God what he should do. Until the day that he was also anointed over all Israel. Throughout his reign we see that David always sought God. Before David would make a choice, he always sought the Lord for an answer.

Here are two examples of how God calls his children, enables them and empowers them, anoints them and provides them with everything they need to be leaders according to His heart. In spite of this, the person still has the right to choose to want to follow it or not. Saul obeyed up to a certain point, and after that he did what he believed to be right. David in his choices, as king of Israel always sought God first.

Next question: True or false? All leaders should be allowed to make their decision as the King Saul did.

David, Moses, Joseph, Paul, Peter and the other disciples learned leadership in theory and then in practice. Every human being who is used by God must first know the Word of God. This is because faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God. Therefore, we must have faith, because without faith it is impossible to please God. (Romans 10:17 - "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Hebrews 11: 6 - "Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes near to God, believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him."

Each of us learn by listening, just as the disciples learned and were trained to walk in God’s perfect way. From Theory to Practice, from learning to a leader. No one is born knowing things, nor is a leader formed without knowledge. Knowledge is acquired through various forms and the most important are to learn it in theory and then learn how to practice it alongside a leader.
In our churches the leadership needs to walk ahead in theory and in practice to train the new believers. Training them in the way to walk and live according to God’s Will.

Homework = Scripture memory:
Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course.
Phillipians 1:6: “6 Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Phillipians 2:13: “13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Personal goal: How do you want to make a difference in this world?? Who do you want to reflect?
Jesus always listened to His Father, and only did what the Father told Him to do. We need to learn to listen to God in our personal relationship with Him. Let’s check out some important versos about this.

John 5:19 “Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”

John 10:30 "I and the Father are one."

John 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Matthew 14:23 “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.”

Luke 6:12 “One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.”

John 11:41-42 “So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."

A true friendship is developed by talking and listening. And we need to learn to sit at the feet of Jesus so that we can learn from Him. A wonderful passage that we read about this is when Jesus said that Mary chose the better part. Let’s read the passage here now. Fellowship is developed by listening and talking together.

I want to mention here something I read on the internet, and I will only quote the Scriptures mentioned in it.
8 ways God speaks to us.
1. Through His Word in general. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”
2. Through His Son, Jesus Christ. “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” Hebrews 1:1-2, NIV).
Jesus says in John 10:27, NKJV: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Why? Because the sheep know who He is. They belong to Him, and they recognize Him by the sound of His voice. And He’s the one who will always lovingly lead them on the right path–again and again.
3. Through Nature and God’s Creation. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse ” Romans 1:20, NIV).
4. Through Other Believers. God may use a friend, a teacher, a parent, or a preacher to convey His message of truth to us. Their words may come as a warning, a blessing, or as a prophetic truth about our lives. Whether we choose to hear it or ignore it, depends on us. Do their words line up with Scripture? Will God confirm or affirm that truth in us? “The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere” (James 3:17, NIV).
5. Through Music. In 2 Chronicles 20-21, King Jehoshaphat faced a huge army of enemies who could have easily destroyed His people, but he did a strange thing. With a declaration that his eyes were on God, he sent in a choir of praise singers: “Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever’” God “spoke” clearly. He released His power, and Jehoshaphat’s army defeated their enemies!
6. Through Circumstances. God is a Holy God, and often uses circumstances to get our attention. But He will usually confirm it in other ways.
7. Through His Spirit. I once heard someone teach about “minding the checks” in your spirit. Some may call it “God’s whispers,” while others say, “God’s still, small voice.” We are made in the image of God, and when we confess Jesus and follow Him as our Lord and Savior, His Spirit comes to live in us (John 14:17, 1 Corinthians 3:16). God’s Spirit speaks to us through our conscience, helping to make the right decision. When we’re tempted, that same Spirit warns and nudges us to do the right thing.
8. Through Prayer. God often speaks to us through His Spirit, through prayer. We may not know how to pray, but God’s Word tells us His spirit makes intercession for us (Romans 8:26-27).

1. 8th Lesson = Learn to be an imitator of Christ as Paul was.

Our Objective is to learn to be an imitator of Christ as Paul was.
Phillipians 1:6: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Phillipians 2:13: “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Starting this lesson I just want to point something out that really makes my heart to be joyful and it really touches me the fact that Jesus is the Author and the one that completes the good work in us… He never leaves us nor forsakes us. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5b (NKJV)
And it reminds me of another passage in Deuteronomy where God speaks with Moses. Let’s check it out.
Deuteronomy 31:6-8(NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”7 Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. 8 And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
Jesus trained and promised the same blessing to the disciples, the Body of Christ. He trains us, He equips us and He gave us the indwelling presence of His Spirit to abide in us. Jesus prepared everything for the Church, as already indicated in the Word of God, and every disciple is included in this.

The Twelve Apostles

“12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles.” Luke 6:12-13.

I love to research this in the Bible to find answers to my questions. God trained the ones He made leaders in the Old Testament and He does the same in the New Testament.

I have seen in my walk with the Lord that the Bible gives us the answer in all our inquiries. Praise the Lord, He never leaves us without answers, even though so many times it seems that God does not answer us. But does He really not answer, or did we not learn to listen to Him?

Now we have to learn how to apply these Biblical principles so that we can form the discipleship in each local church. Every child of God inquires about the Christian life, yes. And how can we see the rules and guidelines in biblical discipleship? Are we all obliged to observe them? How about the fact that the Bible says: I am free once I am saved.

Biblical discipleship has its traits of character, and Jesus Christ is the perfect example of this. A disciple according to the heart of God is one that reflects Jesus. How could we conceptualize discipleship according to the heart of God?
The apostle Paul invites us to be imitators of him, just as he is an imitator of Jesus Christ. A quick answer to this would be: Let's do everything according to God's will and not our way. This is basically all we need to know. I believe that a wholehearted disciple is described as one who has the goal to be according to God's own heart.

The first thing we need to do is: to learn the Word of God, and from there choose to practice it wholeheartedly. We see that this is exactly what the disciples did. They walked with Jesus for three years, they received power from on high; and then they went to do the work Jesus entrusted them to do. Jesus trained them and Jesus ordained them calling them His apostles. Jesus gave them the authority to go and do the same work that Jesus had done up to that time.

Question nº2: Are you ready to proceed and practice what you have learned, and make disciples?

The second thing we need to do, is to live according to how we were ordained and honored by the Lord Jesus. Jesus chose twelve disciples. What does it mean to be ordained?
The dictionary says that ‘When someone is ordained, they are made a member of the clergy in a religious ceremony.’ Based on this description we can clearly say that all those that followed Jesus, were ordained by him, to be a member of His clergy. Amen, praise God.
Dictionary also says that ‘The clergy are the official leaders of the religious activities of a particular group of believers.’ Jesus said ‘Follow me and I will make you fisher of men’. Jesus ordained them to do the work He had chosen for them to do. It was based on the testimony of the disciples that the church of Jesus Christ was founded here on earth.
What was their character trait? I believe that when Jesus chose them, they were ordinary people just like you and I. However, once they started to follow Jesus, gradually they were transformed into His image and His likeness.
In the beginning, when God created the human being, He created them in His own image and likeness… is this correct?

- Human being chose to follow the serpents’ suggestion, sin entered into the humans’ nature and we lost the likeness of our Creator.
- Christ Jesus restored it on the cross and He works in us the willing and the fulfilling.

Dictionary says that Fulfilment is: ‘a feeling of satisfaction that you get from doing or achieving something, especially something useful’. Remember our confidence comes from that fact that Jesus started the good work in us, and Jesus will complete it. Jesus sews the love in us and He is the one that will work in you and in me to want to do it His way and that we do it as well; to fulfill His good purpose. Jesus works in us the fact that we want to achieve and we will be able to do so, according to His will.
Phillipians 1:6: “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Phillipians 2:13: “13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Third thing we need to do is: Learn to be an imitator of Christ as Paul was.
For this we will strive that we may honor the one who called us to serve him here on this earth as His ambassadors. Dictionary says that Imitator is: “An imitator is someone who copies what someone else does, or copies the way they speak or behave.”
I believe that copying the Lord’s way is not exactly what happens in us, I believe that Jesus works in us the fact that we do want to become transformed into His likeness; and therefore we develop the conduct of a true disciple as we allow Him to work in us His character and His likeness. I want to stand as a righteous disciple alongside with Him. I want to rule as we have been instituted by God. The Lord Jesus teaches us to follow the Principles that we must engage into, and also act under the code of conduct that God establishes in which we must lead. I want to be conformed to the heart of our God. God calls, enables and empowers each one of us. Hallelujah!!!
Question nº1: How do you see the discipleship and leadership you know in the church according to the study above?

Question nº2: Are the leaders in your church imitators of Christ as the apostle Paul teaches us?

Homework = Scripture memory:
Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. , Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course.
Phillipians 1:6: “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Phillipians 2:13: “13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Personal goal: Make a commitment with the Lord. My suggestion is to ask Him to make of you a Disciple according to His own heart.

Objectives?

1- Who is truly our master?

2- God has called you to make a difference in this world.

3- We were called Ambassadors of the Heavenly Kingdom, therefore let us honor our Lord Jesus; by doing so.

I would like to encourage all of us to exercise influence over our neighbor, and this influence may or may not succeed. Likewise, this influence can be positive or negative. Many times, we do not realize the fact that there is someone watching us, copying our actions, gestures, thoughts; trying to construct their way of conduct based on what they observed in us. Many people in David’s time watched his behavior. What did they see? A man after God’s own heart.

There are many leaders in this world, and somehow each of us is a leader for someone who is in touch with us at some time. "If someone follows our example, for this person we serve as leader, for the fact that they adapted what they saw in us." Even our relatives and friends, neighbors who always live with us; are we influential to them as well? Certainly. In the future, they might comment to others what the conviviality (living together with you) meant to them.

Question nº2: Do you remember an occasion where someone came to thank you for the example you have been for them?

We ought to evaluate our entire conduct according to the heart of God in our life. We can only lead others on the ‘Way’, which is ‘Jesus’, if we are on that ‘way’ in the first place.

A human being always reflects who is in charge of his heart. What and whom do we follow? It might be philosophies, thoughts, desires, or people who have influenced us. When we look up to someone like our hero, we usually follow in the footsteps of that character.

Who commands your heart, do you know?

Who is the master of your life?

Is the master of your life your own ego?

Based on what do you make your decisions?

Who or what gives the final word in your actions and decisions?

The Word of God tells us in Romans 6:16-18: "Do you not know that to whom you are presented as servants to obey Him, you are servants to Him whom you obey, or from sin to death, or obedience to righteousness? But thanks be to God, having been servants of sin, you have obeyed from the heart the form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And being freed from sin you became servants of righteousness."

Let us make a difference in this world. We are called to be the light of this world and the salt of the world. Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV) “14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

True or false: It makes a difference in this world if we are the light of this world and let it shine before men, that they may see it and glorify the Father in heaven.

God calls us to become servants of righteousness, and that is how our light shines; by obeying God. Most people do not even realize who actually gives the last word inside of them. According to the teachings in psychology, we always have the conduct according to whom and what we follow.

Ask yourself: ‘Has your light been shining lately’?

Adam and Eve believed that they followed completely what their Creator had said. But, one day only, they went after a suggestion given to them and used their own understanding after that. What was the result of the fact that one day only they followed that simple suggestion? The verse we just quoted from Romans tells us that: Once we were made servants of righteousness, it shows us that Jesus Christ is Lord in our life. Only Jesus makes us servants of righteousness; therefore we reflect it as such. We want to have a course or a route in our lifestyle that is worth observing. Our aim and goal should be to "reflect the heart of God, just as Jesus reflected His Father who is in heaven."

This reminds me of the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:20: “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” "Ambassadors for whom? And we will surely lead our followers according to whom we follow.

The Bible tells us that God is love, and whoever is in love is in God, and God in him. We want to lead each one to reach the stature of the person who acts integrally in leadership according to the heart of God, in such a way that in this sense we reach Gods’ expectation.

Perhaps you will come to reason with me saying, oh, but I am no political leader and not a king like David. Neither am I any leader in the local church and nowhere else. Therefore, this subject is not for me. I want to leave a little challenge for you, if the above describtion is as you think about the subject. Read the lessons, and if after reading them you will continue to think in the same way, then may God bless you in your walk, so that He can assert you as He did with David;

"Behold ________________________, a person after my own heart." (Put your name in the blank).

I believe, however, that the Holy Spirit will convince you that He has called you to make a difference on this earth to lead when Jesus said, "As My Father has sent Me, I send you." With this sending, Jesus gave the leadership here on earth to His Church, and He leads us to do our work, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit; therefore… You and I are included in this command.

We have this promise in the Word of God, Jer. 3:15. "And I will give you pastors according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding."

This word is given to us through the prophet Jeremiah; at a time when God's people had completely departed from God. I believe that God is carrying out the training by the Holy Spirit in each one of us who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. Jesus chose the twelve apostles, these were the first who were according to the heart of God in the age of grace; Glory to God for this. I want to be faithful, as David and the apostles were.

Yes, we are humans and make mistakes; but God helps us through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to make it right again with Him. I want to be one of the shepherds after the heart of God, and to feed with wisdom and knowledge those whom God brings to Jesus through me. I want to be a daughter according to the heart of God in my walk, and I desire the same for you.

Are we Vessels for Honor or for dishonor? We have an option to make it right.

Objectives:
1 We ought to examine ourselves, according to the Word of God.
Are we vessels for honor or for dishonor?
2 How can I become a vessel of honor again?
How can I know if I am qualified to lead someone to Christ?
3 God has called you to make a difference in this world.

Vessels for Honor or for dishonor.
Each and every one of us needs to learn to trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledging our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave His life in order that we can live and by doing so, He directs our paths. Not one single person is a good leader because of what the person is in itself. We are a good leader if we are a vessel for noble purposes in God’s hands as the Apostle Paul explains to Timothy.
2 Timothy 2:20 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.”

Now to the Romans the apostle Paul addresses it like this: Romans 9:21 (NKJV) “Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?”

We need to realize and understand that we are clay in the potters’ hand. But, it depends on how we behave, act and live that will describe what kind of vessel we are. Jeremiah describes something very similar to this. God sent the prophet to the potters’ house, and asked him to watch him as he was making the vessels.

Jeremiah 18:1-6: ‘The Potter and the Clay’
“The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord.”
We can have this confidence that once we came to the Lord Jesus to receive Him as Lord and Savior, He does not only have the power to change us from sinners to saints as you already have studied; but also from a lump of clay, that was for dishonor into a vessel for honor. Hallelujah, Amen!!!
Honoring God means we do it as He commanded it. And that settles it!! We learn on constant bases with our Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit that dwells in us always teaches us. So, we are equipped to do the good work. Amen, praise the Almighty God and our Lord Jesus.
Discipleship is the fact that we exercise influence over our neighbors and with all whom we get in contact with; and this influence may or may not achieve its success. Similarly, our influence can be positive or negative. Often we do not realize the fact that there is someone watching us by copying our actions, gestures, thoughts; seeking to build their behavior or conduct based on what they observe in us. Let us put it this way, if I am a vessel for dishonor then I do not achieve it to be a good influence. But, a vessel for honor will achieve a good influence on the person that is with us.
There are many leaders in this world, and somehow each of us, is a leader to someone who is living with us at some time in our life. "If someone follows our example, for this person we serve as a leader at that particular moment". Are we an influence to our family and friends, neighbors who always live with us? Certainly. In the future they might comment with others what living with us meant for them.
So, is the end result going to show that we were a good disciple maker or not?
Journal nº 3: Have you ever watched a pastor or a leader in church and made your remarks about him or her? Was the person a good influence for you or not? What would you tell that person that needs to be changed and based on what?

According to your answer to journal above look at yourself in the mirror (God’s Word) how does it reflect you? What does the neighbor see in you?

Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) “I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”
2 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV) “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.”

The above verses show us a pattern how we are an influence on our neighbors, because it reflects the fruit of our doings, as stated in the verse.
God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah and through Paul to His people:
- “I, the Lord, search the heart.
- I test the mind.
- To give every person according to his ways.
- According to the fruit of his doings.”
- “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.
- Test yourselves.
- Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? — unless indeed you are disqualified.”

Scripture tells us to examine ourselves as to whether we are in the faith. It challenges us to test ourselves. God gives us according to our ways and according to the fruit of our doings. We have no excuse for not receiving different than what God has given us. We receive according to what we do…
As we have studied so far, in the first three lessons; we can know who is qualified to lead others to Jesus by the following:
- If you examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith or not,
- Testing yourselves, you will be able to know if Jesus Christ is in you or not.
- Do you not know yourselves?
- You know whether you invited Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and you know if you are in fellowship with Him… And if not then…
- — unless indeed you are disqualified.

This is how I understand the above verse.
A disciple seeks Jesus with all his heart and with all his soul. Actions, conduct and speech need to be all lined up with the Word of God. We as Christians can say the verse in Deuteronomy 4:29 this way: “But from the day when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I decided to seek the Lord my God, and I find Him every time I seek Him with all my heart and with all my soul.”
- We need to serve with a loyal heart and a willing mind.
- Know the God of your father.
- Serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind.
- The Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.
- If I seek Him, I will be find Jesus… always.
- But if I forsake Him, He will cast me off forever.
- When I will call upon Jesus and go and pray to Him, He will listen to me.
- If I will seek Jesus, I will find Him, when I search for Jesus with all my heart.

People that live around us and with us see it if we truly walk with the Lord. That this will be the pattern as described in the above verses, and they will get a hunger and a desire to have the same. If God and His love is in us, it will be evidenced and people around us will see it. So, are we then willing to lead our neighbor to the Lord as well? If we bring someone to know Jesus and his Word; for this person we are a leader, because we were used to show him how to get to the salvation in Christ Jesus.

True fellowship with Jesus and the body of Christ. In 1 John 1:6-8 (NKJV) we read that: “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” As it is stated in this verse, all of us need to walk in the light and have fellowship with Jesus and walk in the light, because Jesus is the light.

To many people that call themselves Christians do not realize the fact that is described in this passage. Let’s evaluate ourselves according to this passage. Choose one of the three, which one describes you. Be honest before God.
- If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
- But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

Take a stand: (Now remember, this is what Jesus said)
- Either we are for Jesus or against Him.
- Either we gather with Him or we spoil.
- So… am I for Him and gather with Him, or am I against Him and spoil… There is not such thing as being for Him, yet spoiling…

Task nº1: In your next prayer please try the following:

Pray: “Lord do I say that I have fellowship with You? Help me practice it. Have you seen me walk in darkness or am I truly walking in the light with you? Lord Jesus, I do not want to lie, but I want to practice the truth. Help me Lord to walk in the light as You are in the light, so that I can have fellowship with You and other fellow believers, and that your blood Lord Jesus Christ might cleanse me from all my sins. If I say that I have no sin, I deceive myself, and the truth is not in me. I do not want to be against you dear Lord, but with you; so that I can gather with you. I want to walk in the light with you. I do not want to spoil and be a hindrance to others. Thank you Lord. Amen.

Read Matthew 12:30 (NKJV) “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” In our life with Jesus, there are only 2 options… either you are a disciple that follows Him and lives according to the calling He gives us; or we are against Him, meaning His opponent.

I honestly want to learn to practice to live according to what the Bible teaches us, so that I truly can evaluate my conduct according to the same.
How many people have received the same description in the Bible, which David won? The minority. Many served God, but not everyone gained this remark about his leadership and ministry, as David did. There was a special reason why the anointing of God was upon David, who grew in his journey and his way of acting according to God’s heart. He was a human being, and he made mistakes like you and I do; but, every time God confronted him, he humbled himself and made it right with God. I encourage you to read the Psalms that David wrote and evaluate it how he longed to be a man after God’s heart.

Homework = Scripture memory:
Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. , Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course. Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) “I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.” Matthew 12:30 (NKJV) “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
Personal goal: Make a commitment with the Lord. My suggestion is to ask Him to make of you a Disciple according to His own heart.

The second thing that we must do. We are taught to make disciples, encourage people to follow Jesus and to become His disciple; and teach them to do the same. For this to happen we need to have the longing in us, to want to call upon His Name; and to seek Him and search for Jesus with all our heart. We ought to mean it and truly want it. This is what we need to convey in our message with tender loving care.

There is not a lack of leadership in this world; but which percentage of it receives from God a description equal to the one David got? Who is fit to lead in the kingdom of God? Who should lead and how, or why? Do you believe that David at age 17 years old saw himself as the future king of Israel?

The same way as David did not know, the disciples did not either. They had no idea what they would be in the future. They did not know that Jesus would lay the foundation of His church based on their testimony and the witnesses they would be proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He is the Messiah; promised to them in the Old Testament. You and I do not know it either what God will do with us in the future.

Scripture teaches us that we are qualified if we are born again according to the Word of God, and if we truly are following the Lord as He called us to do. If we bring someone to know Jesus and His Word, for that person we are a leader, because we were used to show him = ‘The Way, the Truth and the Life’ = how to reach salvation in Christ Jesus. The reason why we encourage everyone to study Faith Foundation first is to be able to know how to pass on what we have learned.

In John 1:43-46 we read about Philip and Nathanael how they found Jesus… and followed Him. “43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Jesus calls Philip and he follows Jesus, and right away, he says to Nathanael: We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. Amazing how he right away, was concerned to lead his friend to Jesus as well. That is a sign of a true born again Christian. We want others to find the true life with Jesus. Making disciples is everyone’s work, and not only the leaders’ job.

Journal no 2: Check out your life, and evaluate how you are standing in this matter. Are you concerned about your friends and relatives that they also find Jesus? Are you as excited as Philip was to go and make this known to your neighbor/friend? Are you telling them that you found Jesus just as Phillip did?

Does the Bible teach us how every disciple should work in the Church of God? Does God use only the leadership of the Church or each member in it? The Word of God certainly gives us guidelines in this regard. The Word of God is the answer to all these questions. Glory to God, for he never leaves us without guidance and answers; and we will try to study each one of these.

If we attempt to search in the Bible to see how many people received the same description that David received, we would see that it is the minority. Many served God, but not all were described likewise, in their leadership and ministry. There was a special reason why the anointing of God was upon David, who grew up in his journey and in his way of proceeding. David sought the Lord with all his heart and all his understanding, leaning on God in all his decisions. And, when he sinned and was confronted by God, he repented earnestly. Reading the Psalms that David wrote, we can identify in him the fact of true repentance before his God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

Reading this verse in Proverbs, we can tell that David taught his son well. Solomon had learnt the right way, and he followed it for many years and God chose him as the next king after David.

True or false: I can be a great and awesome leader in church throwing in some good thoughts of my own, as I believe it should be done.

Select one of the multiple choice. Since I am a vessel in a great house, that is God´s House, I want to be a vessel of:

a. Gold or silver.

b. Wood or clay.

c. For honor.

d. For dishonor.

e. A and C.

f. B and D.

Now to the Romans the apostle Paul addresses it like this: Romans 9:21 (NKJV) “Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?"
Learning to engage in the conduct with God.

Objectives:
1. Learn to listen and to engage in the conduct as God instructs.
2. You will find God if you seek Him.
3. Now that you have learned, go teach and make disciples.
4. Learn the difference between Vessels for Honor or for dishonor.

God teaches Moses…
“But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” God taught him to seek with all his heart and soul… in order to find God.

Bottom line, either you mean it or not, we cannot fool God. He sees the intention of our heart. God was already teaching Moses how to make disciples out of Joshua and the rest of the people. But, from there... where ever they were at that moment… ‘You will seek the Lord your God. Once the leader shows you the way, and how to follow it… then… you have the means of doing it. In addition, God promises that if we seek Him with all our heart we will find Him.

So, the first thing we must do with our conduct, character and speech teach the people around us to seek the Lord with all our heart. Meaning: if you say you are seeking the Lord, mean it. David said to God the following: ‘Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely’.

Psalms 139:1-6 tells us how David learned about it, and he says:
a. “1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
b. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
c. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
d. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
e. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
f. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”

The dictionary says that ‘lofty’ is: ‘A lofty ideal or ambition is noble, important, and admirable.’

A disciple knows that God searches his heart and that God knows him. He knows that God is aware of everything in his life, even when he goes to bed and when he gets up in the morning. A disciple learns the fact that God is walking with him, by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and that God knows all his ways. A disciple learns that God is always his shepherd, and that He cares about His people.

David also taught his son in the ways to go, and how he could serve God with a loyal heart. Let us read this verse in 1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV):
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”

First command:
a) Know God…
b) Serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind.
c) For the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.
d) If… you seek Him… He will be found by you.
e) If you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

Question nº 1: Are you aware of whom you follow, and who follows you?

Task nº1: Read the verse and put your name in the blank: “As for you, my child _____________________, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you __________ seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”

I believe God teaches us in the same way as He taught Solomon through David his father. I believe also that God is seeking today disciples according to His own heart. And the above verse describes it great.

And I would describe it this way based on the verse above:
“As for you dear child, know that the Heavenly Father, our God is seeking disciples with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for our Lord Jesus searches the hearts and understands all the intent of our thoughts. If we seek the Lord Jesus with all our heart, we will find Him, but if we go after our own understanding… as we see it best… we are in reality forsaking Him, and Jesus does not delight in it.”

He cannot use a follower that in reality does not follow the Lord Jesus and His way; but instead follows his own ways… Each person ought to decide whether it is the Lord’s way or his own way.

God has spoken in the past and speaks now the same message. In Jeremiah 29:12-13 (NKJV) we read: “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Question nº2: Now based upon the above, can one evaluate if we are teaching them to seek the Lord with all their heart, and that they will find Him?

The second thing that we must do. We are taught to make disciples, encourage people to follow Jesus and to become His disciple; and teach them to do the same. For this to happen we need to have the longing in us, to want to call upon His Name; and to seek Him and search for Jesus with all our heart. We ought to mean it and truly want it. This is what we need to convey in our message with tender loving care.

We cannot expect to find God, if we go only to listen to the pastor

God gives us our Spiritual nourishment to every single one of us, just
as He fed His people Manna in the desert. He feeds us, teaches us how to enjoy
and absorb it and make the best use of the same. God told Ezekiel, “Son of man,
eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go to the house of Israel”. God told
him to eat the scroll. He needed to take to heart first and digest the Word God
gave him so that he would be able to speak that same message to the house of
Israel. That is why God sent us the Holy
Spirit to dwell in us; so that we can have an intimate relationship, and learn
as He teaches us.

Now, if we compare that to what Jesus taught his disciples, we will see
that Jesus not only taught them; but, they had to learn to eat it and digest it
also. We can only feed others with comfort from the Lord if we already received
the same food of comfort, and learned how to process it. You and I need to learn likewise.

Read Ex. 18:13-26 to see how Moses’s father-in-law was there to coach
Moses how to do his work a better way. He got together, checked out the
situation and then he taught him how to coordinate the whole situation in a
more effect way. And in verse 24 it says: “So
Moses heeded the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.”
Here we see the picture of discipleship as we learned before: ‘If you are someone's disciple, you are
influenced by their teachings and try to follow their example. <span style="font-family: "wingdings"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-font-family: Verdana; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Verdana; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">ó You

church. But what exactly does it mean to disciple someone? Who qualifies as a
disciple, and what is required to become one? I believe the answer is the
following:

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 14.0pt;">A
disciple is one who has accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, yielded to Him as
Lord, and received Him as one’s very life. A disciple is someone who can say
with the apostle Paul: “I have been
crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and
the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20).<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 14.0pt;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 14.0pt;">

All ‘Born Again Christians’ are disciples, but not everyone that attends
the church is a disciple. Those who only listen to sermons without applying
what they learn, nor share their faith are not disciples. A true disciple
hungers for Christ and His Word and as a result grows in his/her Christian
life. The difference between the two is: a Christian lives in Christ as the
apostle Paul stated and lives according the Word of God, as he learns every
week in Church or the Congregation where he participates as a believer. A
person that is not a born again Christian, but only one that listens to God´s
Word; does not bring forth the fruits of the Spirit. A Christian listens and applies it, just the same way as Jesus taught
the disciples to do it. Remember what Jesus said to Peter? “Do you love me?
Then go and feed my sheep.”

Many churches today are
more focused on numbers than discipleship, but; Jesus was never impressed by
the crowds that followed Him. In fact, He sometimes made difficult statements
that caused the people to leave Him. This was the situation in Luke 14:25-33.
When large crowds were following Him, He told them what was required to be His
disciple. Now remember a disciple can be good, and can be bad. A disciple can
be active and avoiding to be active/in-active.

We need to make our choice.

Ambassadors of the heavenly Kingdom.

Objectives:

A. Make a choice: whose Kingdom do you really want to belong to?
B. Do you wish to be a true follower of Christ in the Kingdom of God?
C. Am I willing to be an Ambassador of the Kingdom of God?

I doubt that anyone, at that time when they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, realizes what the future with Christ will bring them. In reality we enter into a new spiritual kingdom. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ trains His subjects under the laws of His Kingdom, by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
First of all: From the moment we are born again we have an identity registered in the kingdom of Heaven; and the Bible tells us that our names are recorded in the Book of Life and sealed with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 says as follows: “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.”
From thereon we are subjects of the Celestial Kingdom, and ambassadors here on earth of this same kingdom. Now the question might rise: Is an ambassador a leader? Certainly. He leads the representation of the nation which he represents. Having understood this, we will see in the dictionary that leadership and discipleship have the same description; and we will talk about it later in another lesson.
If we are an ambassador, than where we live is an embassy of the Celestial Kingdom. So, if a person (that is still in the worldly lifestyle and does not know about Jesus); comes in your home… can the person recognize into whose embassy they have entered?
We have three important passages of Scripture that talk about the Lord Jesus how He laid down His life for us. He obeyed His Fathers command.
Isaiah 51:1 “Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.”
John 10:18 “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”
Galatians 1:4 “Who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.”

Should people who live with us see God within our lives? He has declared us to be righteous according to 2 Corinthians 5:21- “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
As born again believers we do follow after righteousness. We seek the Lord, the rock from whom we were hewn. We need to learn to look at the hole of the pit from which we were dug… Interesting isn’t it? Why would the prophet teach it if God had not directed him to do so? In the way we express ourselves in every manner, is it directed to the obedience of God, or is it to our own understanding? As Jesus chose to obey, you and I need to make the same choice. It is either His way or my way. As children of God we all need to learn His commandments. We would like to encourage you to study the course Faith Foundation, if you have not yet done so; before moving on in this course.
We need to know the ‘Foundation Of The True Salvation’, in order to live according to it. It is of vital importance to know the Word of God and His commandments before we move on in studying how to become a true disciple. A disciple must learn to practice what he has learned so far. I would like to encourage you to read the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Luke during this time that we study this whole course.
Jesus called the people to follow Him, He taught them about His Father’s command and; Jesus practiced it in front of them everything He wanted them to learn. God has given us everything we need in His Word to learn how to become a true follower and a true disciple.
Journal nº 2: How do you see yourself according to what we have studied so far about what the Word of God says about discipleship?

Secondly: An ambassador can be: active or inactive, faithful or unfaithful, trustworthy or unworthy. God gives us a choice to accept HIM, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our life; and God gives us free will to choose whether we want to faithfully represent his kingdom as ambassadors here or not.

If we would describe an ambassador based on how the dictionary describes these words: active/inactive, faithful/unfaithful, and trustworthy/untrustworthy; it points out some truth that we see around us. Many people out there in the world do it exactly as they think it is right; but are not faithful, nor trustworthy, nor active as they should be. Let us check out the words and see how the people convey themselves that say they are ambassadors of the heavenly Kingdom.

ACTIVE IS USED TO EMPHASIZE THAT SOMEONE IS TAKING ACTION IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING, RATHER THAN JUST HOPING FOR IT OR ACHIEVING IT IN AN INDIRECT WAY.
IF SOMEONE IS ACTIVE IN AN ORGANIZATION, CAUSE, OR CAMPAIGN, THEY DO THINGS FOR IT RATHER THAN JUST GIVING IT THEIR SUPPORT.
SOMEONE OR SOMETHING THAT IS INACTIVE IS NOT DOING ANYTHING OR IS NOT WORKING.

Task nº1: _____________ is taking action in the Kingdom of God as His ambassador, in order to achieve the work God has intrusted her/him. (Place your name in the blank). (Or would you say you are not taking action? => Inactive.

IF A PERSON OR THING IS WORTHY OF SOMETHING, THEY DESERVE IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE QUALITIES OR ABILITIES REQUIRED. A WORTHY PERSON OR THING IS APPROVED OF BY MOST PEOPLE IN SOCIETY AND CONSIDERED TO BE MORALLY RESPECTABLE OR CORRECT. (FORMAL)
IF YOU SAY THAT AN ACTION IS UNWORTHY OF SOMEONE, YOU MEAN THAT IT IS NOT A NICE THING TO DO AND SOMEONE WITH THEIR REPUTATION OR POSITION SHOULD NOT DO IT. (LITERARY)

Proverbs 20:6 – “Many a man proclaims his own loyalty, But who can find a trustworthy (faithful) man?”

Next question: How many of us can proclaim our loyalty, which would be confirmed by our God that he found in us a trustworthy person?

SOMEONE WHO IS FAITHFUL TO A PERSON, ORGANIZATION, IDEA, OR ACTIVITY REMAINS FIRM IN THEIR BELIEF IN THEM OR SUPPORT FOR THEM. THE FAITHFUL ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE FAITHFUL TO SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. A FAITHFUL ACCOUNT, TRANSLATION, OR COPY OF SOMETHING REPRESENTS OR REPRODUCES THE ORIGINAL ACCURATELY.
IF SOMEONE IS UNFAITHFUL TO A PERSON, ORGANIZATION, IDEA, OR ACTIVITY THE PERSON DOES NOT REMAIN FIRM IN THEIR BELIEF IN THEM OR SUPPORT FOR THEM. THEREFORE THEY DESCRIBE THE MESSAGE AS IT PLEASES THEM OR AS IT MAKES SENSE IN THEIR THOUGHTS; THEY GO ABOUT IT IN THE WAY WHICH DOES NOT MAINTAIN THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE.

Verses about faithful:
1 Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
1 Samuel 26:23 – “May the Lord repay every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the Lord delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed.”
2 Chronicles 16:9 – “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
Proverbs 28:20 – “A faithful man will abound with blessings.”
Matthew 25:21 – “His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Question nº3: Does God assess each child/student in his Kingdom? Yes, based on what Scriptures state. If God would evaluate us in this moment, what would God’s description about you and me sound like?

The Bible tells us that God looks at us and evaluates our conduct. David was a shepherd, a young man who was at home taking care of his father's animals in the field. He played his harp, took care of the sheep; but he behaved in a way that was observed by the Most High. God watches every human being, nothing escapes the sight of our God.

Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
What does God see when He watches you and me? What report would He write in His Holy Word about us? Would we be described as David was?

Let’s check the passage: Acts 13:22 “After removing Saul, He raised up David as their king and testified about him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after My own heart; he will carry out My will’ in its entirety.”
Discussion nº1: Discuss the verse above with each other. How would God describe you and me? Would God describe us as He described David?

How many examples of servants do we have in the Bible that did never make any mistakes? Romans 3:23-24 (NKJV) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Based on what we have studied so far makes it clear why the Lord Jesus told his disciples they were supposed to wait until they would be clothed with power from on high. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49.
You and I need to also seek the Lord Jesus to receive the clothing with power from on high. I can do all things through Christ Jesus, this is what the apostle Paul said. We can do God’s work if we do it as He has commanded it.

Homework = Scripture memory:
Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. , Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course. Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

Personal goal: Make a commitment with the Lord. My suggestion is to ask Him to make of you a Disciple according to His own heart.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Objectives of this Lesson.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">1 You should have a clear idea of what the Bible refers to as discipleship.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">2 Evaluate where you are at, when it comes to discipleship in your own life.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">What is Discipleship??

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">I do not know what you were expecting on this subject; but I want to introduce you to something we are all aware of; yet most people do not live according to it. I believe it is high time for all of us who claim to be God’s children, to return to the Word of God, to search for what Jesus told us to do. Many call themselves born again Christians, yet how many of them follow Jesus as He taught the twelve whom he appointed his apostles? He told His followers: "Follow me, I will make you fishers of men."

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">The dictionary tells us that discipleship is: ‘If you are someone's disciple, you are influenced by their teachings and try to follow their example. = 'You are a follower.'

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus called the twelve to follow him.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Please read: Matthew 4:19 “Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Journal nº1: Did you ever visualize yourself in the kingdom of God as someone fishing human beings and bringing them into the God’s kingdom? Have you already fished someone into the kingdom of God so far? If not, what would be your excuse for it? Did you ever have to deny yourself to take up your cross and follow Jesus?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">In this lesson we are going to examine by reading God’s Word that we can learn how Jesus chose each one of those that He called to follow him; and He also trained them. He asked them to go in all the world and make disciples.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Through God’s Word we are being trained by the Holy Spirit to do the same. But, how many of us follow the ‘whole command’? We ought to agree that currently the vast majority of those who call themselves God’s children are far from the kind of ministry, which JESUS taught the twelve disciples to do. Jesus never said that He would train the leadership and the rest of the flock should only faithfully sit in the pews each Sunday just to hear the Word of God... gathering mostly for the fellowship; thinking that this is all it takes to make them a good Christian.’ Jesus trains every believer to do the duty of a disciple maker. Every one of us is called to do the same mission that the twelve were doing.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus gave the command to all his followers; the disciples and all the others that were with Him, to go and make disciples and this we read in Mathew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. And in Mark 16:15-20 we find the same command. Verse 20 says: “Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied itSo if we take a look at these passages that we mentioned, Jesus said:

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Follow me, I will make you fishers of men. This means that Jesus expects to see you following Him, His teaching and His commands. He will make you a good fisherman, you do not need to think: ‘Well I am not qualified to do it, how should I be like the twelve disciples?’ Jesus makes us fishers of men, even though we feel awkward about it.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” We need to make a decision, whether or not we want to be the Lord’s disciple, and based on that there is a requirement; deny yourself, meaning you do not live anymore as you think it is right and proper; but live the way Jesus commands it. Take up the cross means, accept everything that goes with it. And follow the instructions to the ‘t’ as commanded by the Lord Himself.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. ó The command is go and make disciples of all nations. And this is how you do it: Teach them the Word of God as Jesus taught us, that there is no salvation other than the one Jesus preached. We have 3 verses that make this point very clear.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV)”For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Acts 4:12 (NKJV)12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus trained His followers-who He nominated APOSTLES, in theory and in practice at the same time. Luke 6:13 “When daylight came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated as apostles”.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Strong's Concordance defines apostolos as a messenger, one sent on a mission, an apostle. Original Word: ἀπόστολος, ου, ὁ. Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine. Transliteration: apostolos. Phonetic Spelling: (ap-os'-tol-os). Definition: an apostle, a messenger, an envoy, a delegate. One commissioned by another to represent him in some way, especially a man sent out by Jesus Christ Himself to preach the Gospel; an apostle.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus called them to follow Him, and they did. Jesus said I will make you fisher of men, which makes it clear that they needed to be trained and transformed by the Lord Jesus in order for them to be a disciple. For this to happen 3 things are necessary: deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Jesus.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">As we study Scriptures we can see that the disciples all were transformed and they did as Jesus had commanded them. You and I are called to do the same as the disciples needed to do, because we are followers of Jesus through their obedience. If they would have not been faithful to the Lord’s command, you and I would have never heard of it. And Jesus trains us the same way with His Word and through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in us.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus was sad when he went to the synagogue and saw the lives of those who claimed to be leaders of his people, but who lived merely by appearance; and their spiritual life was actually empty. Politically they were living correct. In front of people they acted as if they kept the whole law, showing of to be spotless. But, Jesus saw their heart. Jesus knew they were not living according to what He commanded them through the Law of Moses. Read Exodus chapter 19 to chapter 40. Humanly speaking it is impossible to live perfectly correct keeping all the laws. Only Jesus that was without sin could live perfectly.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Even though the prophet Isaiah already had spoken about disciples as we read in Isaiah 8:16: “Bind up the testimony, Seal the law among my disciples.” God was speaking through the prophet, to say that His people were supposed to bind up the testimony. The dictionary says to bind up means: “To wrap something or someone in a material”. Which means: when you go and announce something or someone whom you are making known, you wrap everything up that has to do with it in the message which you are bringing forth. And we do this with our character, conduct and speech. We represent Him by the way we live, speak, and act.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">God has always had His disciples, wrapping them up in the work He has for each one of them to do; since the beginning and always taught them to do His work.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus trained His disciples to work alongside with Him, doing the same job as He did. How many can say today: "In our church everyone learns and works alongside with the pastor going after people to fish them for the kingdom of God"?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">In the church where you congregate does the vast majority listen only to the powerful messages; or are they also encouraged and taught how to ‘fish souls into the kingdom of God’? ‘To disciple’ according to the dictionary is: "He who receives teaching from someone; one who learns.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Jesus teaches us and we learn from Him. Therefore, we have no more excuse not to do it. <span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">I have several questions for us to ponder about.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Question nº1: Who is to blame if our life is not according to what the Bible teaches?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Question nº2: Do you have a fair excuse for not living your life as Jesus taught you to live it?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Question nº3: What excuse do you have for living your life according to your own understanding instead of obeying the Lord’s command? Make sure the Lord Jesus accepts your excuse.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Question nº4: Do you believe that Jesus taught the disciples to fish souls for His kingdom?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Or... did Jesus want everyone just to hear it in theory and believe it?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Or… did Jesus expect them to practice it as well?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Or… should only the leadership practice the command of making disciples or every Christian?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Or… Where do we find the answer to all these questions?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">The answer is: In God’s Word!

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Therefore, what do you think does God expect of you and me? I believe that Jesus expects each of His children to learn the Word, to engage in it, and to teach others; making more disciples. Discipleship after the heart of God is one about whom God declares: with my holy oil I have anointed him. We read this about David that God said: = Psalms 89:20 "I have found David my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Speaking about discipleship according to the heart of God, we intend to address an issue of utmost importance in our days. We will be studying and meditating on the fact that God looks at our behavior to disciple our neighbor with our lives, conducts and our character. Our acts, gestures and our speech convey the message that is in our hearts. Jesus said very clearly what is in the heart comes out of the mouth… What is in your heart? Do you know?

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">We have several passages that show us that Jesus called the ones He appointed as His followers. Make a point of keeping these passages in your mind during this course.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Matthew 4:19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">John 21:19 “Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">You may say in your inner heart, but I am not a leader. Okay, let me ask you some other questions… "How many of the 12 and 500 other followers of Jesus had any idea at the beginning of what they would do after completion of the training with Jesus? After Pentecost? In Matthew 19:28 “Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Do you have an idea what God is planning to do through you in the near future? I believe that none of them expected to be an apostle who would eventually have their names inscribed on the wall in heaven. In fact none of us knows particularly what the calling is, that God will give us.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">We know that Jesus said, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men'. No one receives Jesus in order to be a leader or disciple maker, and so on. We receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior of our lives; because we recognize we are sinners.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: large;">Homework = Scripture memory: Be sure to commit this passage to memory before moving on to the next lesson. , Then, practice reciting it repeatedly throughout this course. Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
